5 Dos and Don'ts for College Students

So, you are a college fresher and now since being in college you want to find things that you must do, the do's and don'ts on how should you live.
What you need to do, what you are supposed to do & things of such nature come into your mind and now you stumbled on this post.

1. Networking

“Networking is as simple as making a friend circle, rather it is finding people with like-minded goals & personalities, and thought processes so, you can hope in the future to have them as colleagues & business partners.”

  • For example, in your network of people, you have a person who is good at editing videos and you are not so you get their help in getting the job done. This although is an entry example but gets the point across about networking.
  • You should go out and meet people, take a step out of your comfort zone that was built around you as it will develop you as a person and simultaneously build your network.

2. Organization and methodical approach to studies

“Leading your life proactively instead of reactively is the way to developing discipline which in turn produces success and such is the case for organization and productivity”

  • Organize your schedule, you have to be on track with classes, assignments, the deadline of the exams and formative assessments, and the end terms.
  • It is always better to create basic notes of subjects and have a constant revision patterned in your routine. Separate time must be given daily for learning, cramming, revision and practice.
  • Slow and steady studying is much better than just cramming for an hour and believing that you will know the material.

3. Utilizing the resources of your college

  • The topic about studies, teachers, libraries, education centers, and all kinds of resources are available to do in the college for free, you should make the best of these things.
  • You should buy second-hand textbooks because first-hand books are very expensive. You have to pay tuition fees and pay for the hostel. And if you are a day scholar you have to pay for the bus fees. Some people take loans and paying them back is already a hassle so adding charges can’t be recommended, so buying new textbooks is a no.
  • It is also good if your college seniors sell their textbooks. Buy from them and when the time comes sell them back to your juniors and earn back some of the cost. These kinds of books can be found in college, on amazon.com, and on other sites.
  • Students should also take advantage of the of-campus internships being given to college students in the first year and the second year.

4. College Life, Extracurricular Activities, Sports, and Clubs

“In college, you go not just to get a degree but get a personality.”

  • College Life can’t be summarized by studying, cramming, exams, outing with friends, the college campus, and its scenery. There is more to college than just this, in college, you go not just to get a degree but get a personality.
  • Physical activities such as running and jogging are good exercises for your body and provide for the physical development needed. It is scientifically proven that memory and thinking are enhanced if a person exercises daily.
  • Playing Sports creates a healthy lifestyle and provides a destress from work and life balance.
  • Extra-curricular Activities are great to work upon as these provide you with an increase in self-confidence and improvement in Cognition and conversation skills. By working on arts, dance, and music a person develops a growth mindset.
  • In conclusion, this kind of extra activity helps you remain sharp and not get burnout, not get depressed in college when the going gets tough as studies can take you over the edge.

5. Find your passion

  • Passion is a strong emotion, it is difficult to find and even difficult to justify if you don’t understand where is it coming from, and why is it a part of your heart, soul, and mind.
  • College is a great place to find your passion as it is a safe space where you can make mistakes and learn from them, and upon finding it, you can work on it without prying eyes gazing at you.
  • Always remember that college is preparatory to the life of adulthood where you get to understand and adopt responsibilities that enhance your character.
